Honored Branch-Officers Receive Illustrious Degree and Service Medal at Annual Outing in Bethlehem _____________________________________ Verhovay Journal _________________________________________________________________________________________PAGE-1 „ As reported in the last issue of the Journal, ten outstanding branch-officers were honored by the presentation of the Degree of Illustrious Member and the Gold Service Medals at the annual picnic sponsored by Branch 98 in Bethlehem, Pa., held on July 22, 1951, in Hellertown. Eight officers were present at the highly successful affair, while for the two who were absent, Mr. John Csonka of Branch 111 and Mr. Gazer Nagy of Branch 336, Field Supervisor Frank J. Cher received the awards. Appearing on the abovei picture taken on that occasion are, from left to right: Messrs. Stephen Horvath, Vendel Petrovicz, Anton Katona, Michael Hadnagy, Bela Ritter, Director Stephen Lang who presented the awards, John Soltész and Peter Toth, in front, and Field Supervisor Frank J. Cher, F.I.C., and Julius Demko, in the rear. Between them, the men shown above have accumulated nearly 300 years of service for the Verhovay in eastern Pennsylvania. Branch 14 GRAPE HARVEST FESTIVAL All members and friends of the Verhovay in the greater Cleveland urea are cordially invited to the an­nual Grape Harvest Festival of Br. 14, to be held on Sunday, Sept. 30, in the Verhovay Home, 8637 Buckeye Road. Splendid entertainment, foods and refreshments will await all those who attend cur traditionally success­ful festival. A fine program has been prepared and good music will create the proper atmosphere for this event. You are cordially invited to come, bring your friends and enjoy a day of fun and fellowship with us. Branch 17 THE STATE OF THE BRANCH At the August meeting of our branch several members inquired how many members in good standing our branch has at this time. Since our meetings are attended only by a few members, I would like to inform the membership through our official Jour­nal that our Branch had 830 members in good standing on April 23, 1951, when I assumed the management of the Branch. I am happy to report that as of July 31st closing, our branch had 920 members in good standing and that the membership has further increased since that date. I am firmly determined to increase the membership of our branch to I, 000 within the shortest possible time and to this end I appeal to my fellow-officers and fellow-members for their wholehearted support. I as­sure the members of our Branch that I am at their disposal at all times in all matters pertaining to the business of the Association and that I am mak­ing every effort to serve our member­ship conscientiously and satisfactorily. I hope that my fellow officers and fellow-members will reciprocate by supporting me in every way in my' endeavour to attain the goal which I have set before me. ANDREW J. KOVÁCS, District Manager. Branch 27 ANNOUNCEMENTS The members of Branch 27 are in­formed herewith that our district of­fice has been established in the edi­torial offices of the “Toledo” Hun­garian weekly, 2016 Genesee St., To­ledo 5, O., in the same room with Dr. Géza Farkas editor. The phone number is TA. 1535. All members who pay their dues by mail are requested to address their letters to Mr. Colo­­man' Bertalan, District Manager, at; the above address. Those who prefer to pay their dues in person, are requested to call at’ the district office during the follow­ing officers hours: TUESDAY 1 to 5 p.m. THURSDAY 1 to 3 p.m. FRIDAY 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. SATURDAY 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In case of illness or death the members are requested to please in­form the district office either in per­son, or by mail or by phone, during office hours. District Manager Bertalan will be glad to make house calls if so re­quested by phone during office hours. Our members also are requested to inform the district office immediately when they are moving. Those who have recently moved, are requested to advise Mr. Bertalan of their new address. Our members in Toledo are re­quested to extend every possible co­operation to Mr. Bertalan who is de­termined to render the best possible service in all matters pertaining to the business of the Association. Hav­ing recently passed his state examina­tion, he is a licensed insurance man, prepared to give not only conscien­tious service but also helpful advice in all matters concerning life insur­ance.
