Also that the old members who have paid their dues for a long period of time, shall receive the benefit of a dues dividend. 7.) It is recommended that in cases of sick benefit claims the Home Office honor also medical certificates completed by physicians other than M.D.’s, because in certain cases patients may need the services of physicians who are not Medical Doctors. Louis Mazik, President, is elected delegate and George Poes alternate delegate to the National Convention. PETER GANCSOS, District Secretary. DISTRICT 26 Indiana Harbor, Ind. Minutes taken at the meeting of District 26, held on June 17, 1951, in the school room of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Indiana Harbor, Ind. 1.) Joseph Bartók, President of Branch 229, cordially welcomes the delegates and calls for the election of a pro-tem., chairman. Due to the absence of the former President, Joseph Bartók is elected. Pro-tem chairman Joseph Bartók calls for the election of the district president and secretary for the following four year term. Julius Danch, Br. 138, Gary, Ind., is elected District President and John Csömör of Br. 229, Indiana Harbor, District Secretary. 2.) Secretary Csömör reads the minutes of the meeting held on November 23, 1947, which are approved. 3.) Presentation of credentials. 4.) Proposed amendments to the By-Laws submitted by the branches are as follows: District 26 resolves that only such members be eligible to become representatives who are not affiliated with (any un-American organization. District 26 resolves Ihat only members of the Sick Benefit department be eligible to become delegates to the National Convention. District 26 approves the recommendation of the Board of Directors reducing the number of the members of the Board from 13 to 9. District 26 requests that the amendment adopted by the XXI National Convention in regards to the first paragraph on page 7 be repealed and the original text be retained. The provision in regards of the branch officers shall remain unchanged. Also the following paragraph. District 26 recommends that the differentiation between English speaking and Hungarian speaking branches be discontinued. District 26 resolves that the directors to be elected for the next term shall be obliged to render a report, at least twice a year, in the official organ, on their activities in regards to fostering fraternal and social activities in the branches assigned to their resp. districts. District 26 resolves that only those shall have the vote at the National Convention who have a mandate from the membership. Those national officers, directors and members of the Auditing Committee who have not been elected delegates, shall have no vote. District 26 approves the letter of Branch 138 to the Home Office in regards to bowling. Delegates to the National Convention are: Julius Danch of Br. 138, Gary, Ind., William Horvath and Anton Lachman of Br. 342, Chicago, 111., and Joseph Hodits of Br. 503, Chicago, III. Alternate delegates: John Csömör of Br. 229, Indiana Harbor, Ind., Frank Balogh of Br. 503, Chicago, 111., John Toth of Br. 138, Gary, Ind., and Peter Kiss of Br. 127, Joliet, 111. Thanking the delegates for their patient attention, President Julius Danch adjourns the meeting. JOSEPH CSÖMÖR, Secretary of District 26. DISTRICT 28 Racine, Wis. Minutes taken at the meeting of District 28, held on June 17, 1951, in the Racine Hungarian Club. Present are the following branch-representatives: Br. 275, Martin Dolezar, Leslie Köteles, Br. 475, Julius Wank, Br. 137, Emery Vojtko and Br. 157, John Kondrath. Following the opening of the meeting, Martin Dolezarl of Branch 275 was elected President and John Kondrath of Branch 157, Secretary. Chairman calls for the reading of the minutes of 1947, which are approved and attested to by Julius Wa-nk and Emery Vojtko. District 28 opposes the proposal that the branch managers be appointed by the Home Office. It also opposes that the National President be the Chairman of the National Convention. District 28 recommends that the delegates of the Convention elect their own chairman. District 28 recommends that the National Convention shall last only a week and orders that this be entered in the minutes. The first paragraph on page 11 of the »By-Laws shall remain unchanged. The next meeting of ■the district will be held in Milwaukee. Chairman Dolezar requests the delegates to pay a rising tribute to the memory of Frank Beleznay, former District President, who passed on a few months prior to the district meeting. Julius Wank of Branch 475 was elected delegate to the National Convention and Martin Dolezar of Br. 275, alternate. Chairman adjourns the meeting at 12:20. JOHN KONDRATH, District Secretary. DISTRICT 30 Br. 27, Toledo, O. Minutes taken at the meeting of District 30, held on June 17, 1951, in Toledo, O. 1.) District President requests the secretary to read the minutes of the 1947 November district session .The minutes are read and approved and signed by Stephen Pederi and Joseph Rasi. 2.) District President calls for the election of the delegate to the National Convention. Julius Kerekes is unanimously elected delegate and Andrew Rasi alternate. 3.) There being no further business President requests the delegate to do a good job at the National Convention and to see to it that the Convention shall last no longer than one week and adjourns the meeting. STEPHEN TAKACS, District President, JULIUS KEREKES, District Secretary. DISTRICT 31 Trenton, N. J. 1.) The District meeting took place on Sunday, June 24th, 1951, at 1 p.m., in the Verhovay Field Office, Trenton, N. J. 2.) The meeting recognized that notices to branches 444 and 480 were sent out in the first week of June but they were not acknowledged. 3.) District President: Stephen J. Soltész, Secretary: Julia K. Cher. 4. ) Amendments to the By-Laws proposed by the Beard of Directors'! were accepted with the following exceptions: a.) The stipulation regarding the distinction between the American and Hungarian branches should be omitted only if the National Convention adopts the following: “At the! annual election meeting of branches, if one-third of the members present demand the taking of minutes in English, the branches must comply.” b.) John Bencze, our National President: should preside over the present Convention. 5. ) National sports tournaments should be continued only if the prizes to the winners will be ‘awards of merit’ and not cash prizes. The goal of our national tournaments should be the fostering of fraternalism and not an occasion to obtain material gains. 6.) Unanimously elected for Convention Delegate: Julia K. Cher. Alternate: Stephen J. Soltész. STEPHEN J. SOLTÉSZ, President, JULIA K. CHER, Secretary. DISTRICT 32 Pittsburgh, Pa. Minutes of the District Meeting held on Sunday, June 24, 1951, at the Verhovay Home Office in Pittsburgh, Pa. — Chairman of the last session, William Kohut greeted the delegates of branches 376, 395, 409, 439, 442 and 520, introduced them and immediately went into the purposes of the Session. The first matter on the agenda was the election of a chairman and a secretary. Mr. Kohut called for nominations and Mr. Movie nominated Mr. Banes. Mr. Movie then moved that nominations be closed and Mr. Banes was unanimously elected. Mr. Fulop was re-elected secretary. The new chairman assumed the chair, introduced himself and gave a brief outline of his career. On a motion and vote it was decided to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last session. The secretary was then introduced by the chairman to read the proposals of the Board of Directors for the amendments to the By-Laws. Each proposal was voted on individually änd, without exception, passed unanimously. The speed and dispatch with which this business was disposed of was due to the expert advice, counsel and explanations given by National Treasurer John Szalanczy and National Auditor John Sabo who had graciously consented to attend our session. The meeting was now open for suggested amendments, remarks, etc.,, from the delegates. None being forthcoming, the election of delegates to the National Convention was now undertaken. Gay B. Banes, Esqu., and Mr. John Korintus of branches 430 and 376 resp., were duly elected with Mr. Bagos of Branch 439 first alternate and Mr. Wilson Movie of Branch 395 second alternate delegate. The meeting was adjourned and at the invitation of Chairman Banes, th^ delegates and friends repaired to the Sheraton Hotel dining room for dinner as the guests of Branch 430, Homestead, Pa. JOHN FULOP, JR., Secretary. DISTRICT 33 Alliance, O. Minutes of the meeting of District 33, held on June 17, 1951, in the Alliance Verhovay Home. District President Mike Buzogány called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. The following delegates answered roll call: Mr. Leno Pisoni, Mr. Michael Duruttya, Mrs. Ida Houdt from Branch 369, Mr. Frank J. Frazon, Mr. Joseph Rafé, Mr. Charles A. Young from Branch 383, Mr. Leslie R. Monos from Branch 477, Mr. Steve Kovach, from Branch 432, Mr. Edward Torda from Branch 366, Mr. James S. Houser and Mr. . Phillip S. Houser from Branch 364. Branches 355, 360, 391, 405, 488 did not send delegates. Mr. Mike Buzogány did not want to preside, so Mr. Joseph Taylor of Buffalo was named chairman and election was held. Mr. Edward Torda of Br. 366 was elected President, and Mr. Philip S. Houser of Branch 364 was: elected Secretary of the District. Minutes of the meeting of December 2, 1947, were read by Secretary Houser and were accepted. After this all modifications to By-Laws were read, item for item, and discussed. Many were accepted and few were rejected. The delegates were instructed on each point what District 33 wants. Juvenile By-Laws were read and accepted. The delegates voted if District meetings were to be held, the next: meeting would take place in Buffalo, N. Y., or, as second choice, in Cleveland, O. Charles A. Young, Br. 383, Philip Houser, Br. 364, and Leslie Monos, Br. 477, were elected delegates and Michael P. Duruttya of Br. 369, alternate delegate to the Convention. The meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m. The directors of the Verhovay Home of Alliance, Ohio, honored the delegates with a very good chicken dinner and many thanks to these people. P. S.
