Mr. Bertalan will move from Cleveland to Toledo before the end of the month and he will assume his of­fice on August 1st, 1951, until which date Mr. Kerekes remains in charge of the management. Mr. Bertalan, who plans to visit shortly all of the members of Branch 27, made a very impressive acceptance speech which was warmly received by the members present. Credit for the establishment of the Toledo Organizing District goes first} of all to the officers and members of Branch 27, including their esteemed Manager, Mr. Julius Kerekes, who displayed a rare and unselfish atti­tude when stepping back to insure the progress of the Association. Credit, further goes to* District Manager Leslie .1. Dus, who conducted all the negotiations preceding this final ad­don and whose sympathatic approach and able explanations have been in­strumental in effecting this change which will prove beneficial to Branch 27 because Mr. Bertalan, a man of great ability and long organizing ex­perience, is firmly determined to put his heart and soul into his work to make it a complete success. At this time I wish to personally convey my" pincéré thanks to the officers and members of Branch 27 for their un­usual understanding and their exemp­lary fairness in putting the overall interests of the Association before everything else. Also I wish to ex* press my sincere appreciation to Dis­trict Manager Mr. Dus whose good offices have been so instrumental and (effective in guiding the branch in this action. BETHLEHEM, PA . Branch 98 PICNIC ON JULY 22 The annual picnic of Branch 98 will be held on Sunday, July 22, at the Warjas farm in Hellertown. The three officers of the branch to whom the Degree of Illustrious Member has been awarded by the Board of Di­rectors, will be presented their cita­tions and service medals on this oc­casion. We request all members to attend this event to show thereby their appreciation of the many years of faithful service these officers have given the branch. The presentation ceremonies will start at 6 o’clock. Admission will be §1.50 for the men and §1.00 for the ladies. This includes the price of refreshments. Music will be furnished by John Toth and Alex Vig, from 3 p.m., on. Mrs. Harold Gross, President of the Wo­men’s Branch and her helpers will do everything to provide our guests with the best food. Branch 164 ELECTS NEW MANAGER At a meeting held on Friday, July 6, 1951, attended by a large number of members, and by Field Manager Henry F. W. Rettmann, annooince­­ment was made of the discontinuance of Mr. Nemeth’s office of District Manager. After a discussion of the developments preceding the meeting, the election of a Manager for Branch 164 followed. Mr. Andrew Janovics, Vice-President of the Branch, was! elected by a large majority of votes and Mr. Rettmann announced he was going to stay in Chicago for another week for the purpc*se of training Mr. Janovics in the duties of branch man­agement. Since the election of Mr. Janovics vacated the vice-presidency, Mr. Ernest Taylor was elected Vice- President in his place. Mr. Joseph Iroczky, President of the Branch, was chairman throughout the proceedings. This is to inform all members of Branch 164 that Mr. Janovics has assumed the Branch Manager’s Of­fice. MANAGER’S ANNOUNCEMENTS In taking over the office of Branch Manager for Branch 164 I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the members c*f Branch 164 for their confidence in me. I wish to assure all members that I am firmly determined to render the best possible service to everyone and to make every effort to make our branch grow and pro­gress as rapidly as possible. I’ll sin­cerely appreciate your kind assistance in striving toward this goal for the benefit of all. Branch 342 OFFICERS ELECTED A large number of members at­tended the special meeting held on Monday, July 9th, in the old Lachman Hall, 4122 West* Lake Street. Henry U. W. Rettmann, Field Manager, at­tended representing the Home Office. After the reading of the minutes, President Mr. Lachman introduced Field Manager Rettmann and re­quested him to conduct the meeting. Assuming the chair, Field Manager Rettmann reviewed the developments that led to the discontinuance of the District Manager’s Office held up to June 30 by Mr. Frank Nemeth. He assured the membership present that Mr. Lachman, who has been an offi­cer of the Association for more than 38 years, has always been held in the highest esteem by the Home Office. The establishment of an organizing district became necessary because of the general interests of the Associa­tion rather than because of any short­comings of membership services in Branch 342, After a brief round table! discussion of the problems involved, Chairman Rettmann called for nomi­nations. The Manager’s Office was filled by secret ballot the outcome of which was that Mr. Anton Lachman was elected by a large majority. Chairman Rettmann stated he was happy over the outcome of the elec­tion because the long experience of Mr. Lachman will be of invaluable help in giving the membership pro­per confidence in the services of the Association. Mr. Lachman, who did not wish to be elected, finally ac­cepted to the great pleasure of all members present. Due to his election the position of Branch President be­came vacant w'hich was filled by ac­tive and popular Dan Igyarto who, thereupon, assumed the chair and closed the business session to give time for the regular collection of dues. At this time I wish to extend my sincere thanks and expressions of deep appreciation to the officers and members of Branch 342 for their very fine understanding and cooperation throughout the meeting. It is my sin­cere hope, and in this I am joined by the Home Office, that under the able leadership of Mr. Lachman, Branch 342 will progress for the benefit of nil members and the entire Associa­tion. Members of Branch 342 are re­quested to hereafter pay all their dues, report all illnesses and claims and address all inquiries only to Mr. Anton Lachman, Manager, 4637 West End Ave., Chicago, 111., Phone ES. 8-5065. GYULAY ELECTED On Friday, July 6, 1951, Mr. Mi­chael Kosztin, Manager, having sub­mitted his resignation fro*m his of­fice which he accepted when Mr. Gyu­­lay left for Washington, D. C., the membership of the Branch elected former Manager Alexander Gyulay to his former office. Mr. Gyulay immed­iately assumed the duties of Branch management and the members of Branch 525 are requested to pay their dues, report illnesses and claims and address all inquiries to Mr. Alexander Gyulay, 6751 Hazeltine Ave., Van Nuys, Calif. The members of Branch 525 are assured of conscientious and competent services in the hands of Mr. Gyulay whose long record of service and experience will assure all members’ satisfaction.
