Branch 36 DISTRICT MEETING CALLED All members of Branch 36 are no­tified herewith that the official pre­convention meeting of District 24 will be held on Sunday, June 24, at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the former Ver­­hevay Hall, 8005 W. Jefferson Ave. The schedule of business will be as follows: 1.) Opening of the district session. 2.) Reading the minutes of the last district session. 3.) Nomina­tion and election of delegates to the National Convention. 4.) Nomination ancf election of alternate delegates. 5.) Resolutions and recommendation» to be submitted to the National Con­vention. 6.) The expenses of the dis­trict session. 7.) Closing of the dis­trict session. The Convention will convene on September 10. Branch 36 is entitled to elect four delegates to the Convention. Members in good standing, who are American citizens, and have held life insurance and sick benefit certificates for at least two years, are eligible to become delegates to the National Convention. Food Verhovay Journal Third Eastern Verhovay Day Picnic on July 15 at Linwood Grove, Stelton, N.J. — Representatives of 10 branches invite National President at enthusiastic meeting. — The Committed in charge of the plans and arrangements for the Third Eastern Verhovay Day Picnic, to be held on Sunday, July 15, 1951, at Linwood Grove, off Highway 27, Síeíton, N. J., held a very successful meeting o«n Sun­day afternoon, May 20th, at the American' Legion Home in New Brunswick. J., has not yet been represented on the committee, it will participate in the Eastern Verhovay Day. Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Michael Puskas, Manager of Branch 518, greeted the assembled representatives and urged them to put forth their best efforts to make this the most successful event yet sponsored by the Eastern Verhovay branches. The program was discussed at great detail. The meeting unanimously resolved to invite National President John llencze to attend the Tiiird Eastern Verhovay Day at the expense of th'e( branches jointly sponsoring the event. The representatives felt it of utmost importance that the National President of the Association be present at this important event. By their exemplary action in voting to assume the expenses of his trip they demonstrated the deep and sincere respect in which Mr. llencze, who has been a national officer of the Association for the last 21 years, is held by the membership of our Association. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. and Mrs, Michael Puskas were hosts to the assembled delegates who take this opportunity to thank them for their splendid hospitality. Mr. Michael Puskas is not only an untiring worker of the Verhovay but also a state official of the American Legion who is highly respected throughout the State of New Jersey. Though he is a very busy man, he always has time for the Verhovay and its great fraternal program. As chairman of the Eastc:n Verhovay Day Committee he renders invaluable services for which the Committee is deeply obliged tc* him. .The Committee hopes that all friends and members of the Verhovay in the east, as well as all visitors from the west, will set aside the day of July 15th to attend the Third Eastern Verhovay Day Picnic. Branch 48 VERHOVAY DAY On Sunday, June 24th, a Verhovay Day Picnic will be held by Br. 48 at the Bronx Magyar Park to which not only the members of Branch 48, but all the members and friends of the nearby branches are cordially invited and it is hoped that our fellow­­members in these branches will avail themselves of the opportunity to be­come better acquainted with the New York membership. Splendid entertain­ment has been provided for the Ver­hovay Day in the Bronx Magyar Park at which it is hoped that Na­tional President John Bencze, invited by the Branch, also will honor us with his presence. Admission is 60 cents if tickets are purchased in ad­vance. At the park admission will be 75 cents. ANNOUNCEMENT This is to inform ail members of Branch 48, that the date of the reg­ular monthly meetings has been changed from the second Friday of each month, to the first Friday eve­ning of each month. Branch 76 EASTERN VERHOVAY DAY At the recent meeting of the branch representatives it was decided to hold the Third Annual Eastern Verhovay Day c:i Sunday, July 15th, at Lin­wood Grove, on Route 27, Stelton, N. J. At last year’s picnic our blanches were represented for the first time and all those who attended had a memorable time and are again looking forward to going en masse. To help the picnic committee of our branch in their efforts to arrange for transportation in advance, and not in the last minute as was the case last year, we urge all those wishing tc* attend to make reserva­tions at the earliest possible time so we will know how many busses to reserve. Those who could not attend last year, really missed an opportun­ity as proven by the tales of those who were there and enjoyed the won­derful food and music and friendship that prevailed there. Branch 98 PICNIC ON JULY 22 The annual picnic of Branch 98 will be held on Sunday, July 22, at the Warjas farm in Hellertown. The three officers of the branch to whom the Degree of Illustrious Member has been awarded by the Board of Di­rectors, will be presented their cita­tions and service medals on this oc­casion. We request all members to attend this event io show thereby their appreciation of the many years of faithful service these officers have given the branch. The presentation ceremonies will start at 6 o’clock. Admission will be $1.50 for the men and $1.00 for the ladies. This includes the price of refreshments. Music will be furnished by John Toth and Alex Vig, from 3 p.m., on. Mrs. Harold Gross, President of the Wo­men’s Branch and her helpers will do everything to provide our guests with the best food.
