Frank Gyürke and his popular orchestra are going to furnish the music for this grand affair at Verhovay Hall, 8637 Buckeye Rd. Plenty of food and refreshments, lols of fun for young and old, good music and a happy time: that’s the Grape Harvest Festival of Branch 14. Everybody is invited, everybody is welcome! MONTHLY MEETINGS Hereafter, the regular meetings of Branch 14 will again be held on the first Sunday of each month. October 1st is the date of the next meeting. Dues will be taken from 1 o’clock on. Branch 21 IN MEMORIAM It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Mrs. August Habodasz, nee Irma Czepper, wife of the President of St. Stephen’s Branch 21, on Thursday, August 24, 1950. Friends were received at Stephen Szabo’s funeral chapel where Joseph Danish, Manager, paid final tribute, on behalf of the membership of Hr. 21, to the deceased who had been a Verhovay member of exemplary devotion for 42 years and whose kindness to her fellowmen will always be remembered by the membership of Branch 21 as well as all American Hungarians in Youngstown. Funeral ceremonies were held on Monday, August 28th, at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Vaskó and two assistants officiating. Attendance at the ceremonies was exceptionally large and those present were deeply impressed by the beauty of the arrangements made by funeral director Stephen Szabó. The blessed memory of the late Mrs. Habodasz will be cherished by the entire membership of Branch 21 on whose behalf I extend my deepest sympathy to her bereaved husband and his family. Therefore, all members are requested to attend our meeting on August 20th, at which time plans for the observance of this event will be discussed. The bowling league held a meeting o.n August 29, 1950 to form this year’s teams. We had a very good turnout and we will have six men’s teams and four ladies’ teams. Branch 443 ANNIVERSARY As announced previously tentative plans had been made for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the organization of Branch 443. Due to the fact, however, that reservations have not been made in sufficient number to guarantee the success of a banquet, the plans have been cancelled and the 15th anniversary of the branch will be observed at the annual meeting of Branch 443,. to be held on December 3rd, 1950. AND MRS. DONALD McLELLAN Shown leaving Holy Cross Catholic Church in Detroit, Mich., on May 20th, are Donald McLellan, type of the “tall, dark and handsome” groom and his beautiful bride, the former Lillian Tremble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tremble, of 3430 S. Edsel, Southwest Detroit, members of Branch 36. “The light, gay spirit typical of summer was reflected Saturday at the wedding of Lillian Tremble to Donald McLellan,” commented the ‘Ecorse Enterprise,’ describing the wedding. The bride chose a gown of nylon and Chantilly lace, while her attendants wore gowns of marquisette in pastel shades of yellow, orchid and green. The bridal gown was fashioned with a bodice of nylon over satin, V- neekline, lace yoke and long fitted sleeves. The full skirt was fashioned with tiers of Chantilly lace starting at the waist and extending into a long train. A crown of orange blossoms held in place her fingertip veil of illusion, edged in matching lace, and she carried roses and lily-of-the-valley, centered with orchids, in her bouquet. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James McLellan, of 13142 Schoolcraft, Detroit. Attending the bride were Mrs. Charles Conti, matron-of-honor, in yellow marquisette with talisman roses; Germaine Marcis, as maid-of-honor, in orchid marquisette with white roses, and Annette Cantine, as bridesmaid, in green marquisette with yellow roses. A basket of mixed daises was carried by Maureen Tremble, flower girl, who was gowned in aqua marquisette. The rings were carried to the altar by Thaddeus McManus, while Jerry McLellan was his brother’s best man, and ushers were Jack McLellan, another brother, and Charles Conti. Three hundred guests congratulated the newlyweds at an evening reception in Detroit, before the new Mr. and Mrs. left for their honeymoon trip to the East. Verhovayans in Detroit sincerely congratulate the newlyweds, and wish ail the happiness in the world to the groom and his bride who hails from one of Detroit’s most popular Verhovay family. BRANCH 429 OF DEARBORN, MICH., TO OBSERVE 15th ANNIVERSARY On Saturday night, September 30th, 1950. Branch 429 of Dearborn, Mich., will hold its Fifteenth Anniversary Celebration with a Grape Harvest Festival Dance at the Verhovay Club Hall, 8005 West Jefferson Ave., Detroit, Mich. There will be plenty of refreshments, novel entertainment and the traditional Körmagyar Dance usually performed at these Grape Harvest Festival dances. All members and officers of all the Greater Detroit branches are cordially invited to help little Branch 429 celebrate its Fifteenth Anniversary.
