Tlae gathering under the direction of Mr, Stephen Matasy, consisted of the following: Jos. Turner, Sr., Nicholas Takacs, August Habodasz, Jos. Danish, Michael Cibulas, John Kostya, Andy Blasko, Jos. Turner, Jr., Margaret Barkó, Mary Ann Brogley, Stephen Novak, Jos. Nagy, Andrew Cseh, and Steve Mislay. Submitted also, were the names of the best capable men and women from our local branches, who will serve on the various committees. In order to promote the entire affair in a successful manner, we anticipate that our committees will function together in smooth coordinated groups. SUGGESTIONS: One of the suggestions we are awaiting approval on is having group photos- taken of the visiting teams’ If given the green light, we will erect an attractive frame prop froib which a team may stand behind to have a picture taken of their smiling profiles. Perhaps many of you are already familiar with this plan which has been adopted by the American Bowling Congress. Another suggestion introduced was the pinning of designated numbers on the backs of the bowlers. This enables the scorer to distinguish each bowler and also aids him in performing his duties faster and more accurately. Mr. Stephen Matasy generalized the overall plans and procedures governing the lodgings of the out-of-town participants and their rooters. Specific information, as to the whereabouts of the hotels, rates of rooms, etc., may be acquired by reading the column in the Journal “1950 Tournament City News.” NEW TEAM: Branch 21 will enter a fourth team in the tournament, which will be called the No. 3 team. This new team under the “21” banner is composed of members from the nearby suburb of Campbell, which is noted for producing athletic teams of reputable fame. We believe those hotshot Campbeliites will hold up their end fairly well. The players on the team are: Andy Cseh, Captain, Julius Pefko, Mike Cseh. Bob Lenton, Gene Peyko, and Charles Kish. PITTSBURGH 19, PA. Mrs. Mislay’s precocious youngster will now dwell on the subject of bringing home the bacon in the Southway Home League. The aces have captured the second half honors and at our next writing we shall know whether or not these obstinate, obstreperous, rinky-dinks will obliterate Quench Bar, the first half winners. If there were a mystic about, in the Omar Khayam category, we could consult him on the chances of our aces in the playoffs. The one answer, this world wise know-it-all, would relate to us, would be of the repeat performance of last years play-offs. At that time our team lost but in the last few frames of the third game. We are confident that this year the aces will afccelerate us over the black1 Thursday jinx. The Number 2 team should employ a psychiatrist, like the St. Louis Baseball Browns have, to hypnotize our gang into keeping away from splits and seven-ten spares. If the good doctor could produce 300 hitters with. a last place ball club, surely he could do something with a sixth place bowling team. READY OR NOT: The local Verhovay Bowling teams are priming for the invasion of the out-of-towners. We are going to try awfully hard to keep some of the tournament money circulating- back here in Youngstown, Of course I have never seen any of the visiting teams roll, but I sure would feel safe if I could chisel their epitaph’s with the sharp keys of my typewriter. God’s gift to the Hungarians. STEVE MISLAY.
