CHICAGO MATCH GAME — Branch 37 bowlers hosts to 342 teams at dinner following match game. — Your Health From the Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania and the Allegheny County Medical Society “I’m worried about my headache.'' Mrs. B. said. * ¥ * “What:s the cause of it?” queried her husband. * * “It must be from worrying about that leak in the roof,” replied Mrs. B. * * * A headache can develop from ever-mounting strains and stresses. * ¥ * A pressing problem can weigh upon the worrier until the muscles .of the head and neck contract and pulsation in the blood vessels of the head increases. * ¥ * At this, point, the headache becomes severe and the sufferer usually turns to relief by medication. * * * Physicians advise that patients should endeavor to handle headaches by controlling themselves. * Sic * To recognize the factors that are creating pain-producing anxiety, is a practice recommended. # * * Habits of life must be modified to fit within the limits set by the nervous system to bring order out of inward chaos. * % * Adequate rest, relaxation, hobbies, vacations, and the right kind of exercise will relieve pressure. ❖ if. ❖ The habit of worry is in itself an evil from which man should turn away, according to Emanuel Swedenborg, scientist. * ¥ * For those seriously felled by their headache the proper use of histamine, a drug that dilates the blood vessels, is being prescribed increasingly. tj * * In migraine and several other types of headache, the role enacted by the blood vessels is gaining wide recognition. * ¥ * Worry can start a headache that can give one much worry. DO YOU KNOW? A total of 10,762,853 pounds of aspirin was produced in this country last year which is estimated to be enough to relieve somewhere around eight billion headaches. On Friday, January 6th, the bowlers of branches 37 and 342, two men’s team and two women’s team to each branch, rolled an exciting match game on the South Side. Following the match game, the exhausted bowlers and visitors from Branch 342 were splendidly entertained by Branch 37 whose young ladies had a truly delicious dinner prepared for the entire crowd. As one of the older generation, I was deeply impressed by the warm hospitality and the wonderful entertainment accorded to us, that .proved to me that the Verhovay youth of our day is moved by the same spirit that inspired the foundingfathers of the Verhovay many years ago. These get-togethers of the bowlers of branches 342 and 37 have developed into a tradition of many j years’ standing and I must say that the 37-ers always have gone out of their way in showing us a good time, but never more than on this occasion which will always be memorable to me. Just imagine what happens when an Irish bowler of Branch 342 stands up to sing “Lári-fári” in HUNGARIAN and a Hungarian bowler responds with rendering “Don’t cry Joe. Lét her go . . Anyhow, the cock crowed, as usual, by the time the Verhovay bowlers started to think about going home. On behalf of the Branch 342 bowlers I want to thank each and every one of you at Branch 37 for the wonderful time you had shown us and I do hope that when we meet again at our Branch, we will be able to return your splendid hospitality. ANTON LACHMAN, Manager. There are people who roll out the carpet for you one day — and pull it out from under you the next. What we need most, is not so much to realize the ideal as to idealize the real. Millions of people reach retirement age physically fit, mentally alert, but financially dead. — (Exchange.) The way to get ahead is to use the one you have.
