Address contributions to Verhovay Journal, 436 Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh 19, Pa. MAYNARD, O. Branch 5 ANNUAL MEETING May I call the attention of the members of Branch 5 to our annual meeting which will be held on Sunday, December 18th, beginning at 2 p.m., in the Csajka store. It is very important that all members attend this meeting as the officers of the branch for the coming year are to be elected on this occasion. I have been pleading with our members along these lines for the last ten years but only two of our members have heeded my plea. I sincerely hope that this year’s annual meeting will mark a new beginning as far as the participation of the membership in the affairs of the branch is concerned. 1 have a large number of members who have loans on their membership certificates. I wdbld like to again request each of these fellowmembers to try to pay at least the interests on these loans each year, because the overdue interest will be added to the indebtedness which, in turn, will increase the interest load thereon. Remember that by paying the interests and your loans you are protecting your loved ones against loss. NEWS ITEMS Fellow-member Frank Köteles who now makes his domicile at Kent, O., was stricken with a heart ailment but is well on the road to recovery at the present time. Incidentally, he again became grandpa’ when his daughter, Mrs. William Valigora, of St. Clairsville, O., received a blessed bundle of joy from heaven. Yes, it’s a girl! Congratulations to Bill and Irene. When is she coming into the Verhovay family? And thanks, Frank, for the $5.00 donation for the branch-treasury! May I say thanks in advance to our good member, Miss Anna Csajka, for the free use of her store at our meetings for the past several years? And, at the same time. I would like t© add to our thanks a note of profound sympathy to Miss Csajka whose beloved mother, Mrs. Anna Csajka, passed ©n to her eternal reward, there to join her good husband Paul, and her loving daughter Josephine, on Sunday, July 10, 1949. During the more than fortyyea rs she has spent in business, she has^ made many friends, most of whom are scattered all over the Verhovay land. I know they’ll join me in the assurance of deep sympathy in Miss Csajka’s great loss that has deprived our branch, too, of its most faithful supporter and dearest friend. May our late Mrs. Csajka, with her husband and daughter Josephine, dwell among the blessed. JOHN KOVACH. President JULIUS SHADI. Manager Verhovay Journal WINDBER, PA.
