Work is healthy; you could hardly put more upon a man than he can bear. Worry is rust upon the blade. It is not the revolution that destroys the machine, but the friction.—Henry Ward Beecher. Journal PAGE 3 Wedding Bells Ring At Reunion In Roda — Manager Daniel Jordan of Roda, Va., gives away daughter, Agnes Esther, in marriage to John J. Hilz of New York. — A happy family reunion was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Jordan with their ten children and a granddaughter, all members of the Verhovay, on Sunday, August 7th, in Roda, Va., when Agnes Esther Jordan and John J. Hilz, both of New York City, exchanged marriage vows in the beautifully decorated Appalachian Presbyterian Church. Daniel Jordan Jr., was the best man, John J. Jordan of New York, and Bill Jordan from the Greenville College in South Carolina served as ushers. Mrs. Harold Murai, the former Helen Jordan, was Matron of Honor and the Misses Vargyas, Julie Jordan, Iren Jordan, Christine Jordan, Margaret Jordan and granddaughter Melba Murai from New York, were the bridesmaids. Following the wedding ceremonies a reception was held in the parents’ home from where the young couple departed for a week’s honeymoon at Virginia Beach and, then, returned to New York City. Mr. Jordan, a miner, came from Abauj county, Hungary, to America in 1908. He founded Branch 334 in Roda, Va., on February 21st, 1921, became its first president and has been the only manager of the Branch since 1925. He married the former Esther Varga in 1914 and how richly their marriage was blessed is shown in this picture of one man’s happy family . . . Congratulations to the proud parents and^io the happy bride and groom. The best wishes of the Verhovay family are with them in their quest for happiness . . .! WAITING . . . DISCOURAGE . .. ANXIOUS . . . HOPEFUL Here’s an action shot that tells a tournament story. There is the girl, waiting for her ball to come back for the second throw . . . Next to her is the girl, on her way back to the bench, scratching her head, a clear indication of what her score was . . . Then the girl who just managed to drop a twister . . . And in the foreground the girl with the graceful follow-up, looking hopeful after the ball running its course straight and true . . .
