Widow Receives Verhovay Double indemnity Benefits Mrs. Frank Omischl and Mgr. Frank Balogh of Chicago Some say of insurance companies that they are eyer so anxious to collect premiums but most reluctant to satisfy claims, others maintain similar suspicions about fraternal societies, yet, actually, the opposite is true for the great majority of legal reserve life insurance organizations including, of course, our own Verhovay F.I.A. Witness the presentation of a $2,000 check by Frank Balogh, Manager of Branch 503, Chicago, 111., to Mrs. Frank Omischl whose husband met his death in an accident while working in Tucson, Arizona. His body was returned to Chicago and internment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. OFFICIAL NOTICE In accordance with instructions from the Board of Directors, I hereby call to the attention of all branch-managers and officers as well as members of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association that the NEXT MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL BE HELD BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 12, 1949. Those who wish to contact the Board of Directors in regards to any kind of official business, should inform the National Secretary of their intention to do so not later than September 5th, 1949. Matters received after the above time limit or during the course of the meeting, shall not be discussed and the Board of Directors shall not consider them until the following meeting of the Board of Directors in March, 1950. , * — JOHN BENCZE, National President. Sharpsville Diamond Jubilee Queen The diamond jubilee of Sharpsville, Pa„ a pretty town of over 5,000 in Mercer county, north of Sharon, brought special honors to Verhovay’s Branch 171 in the election of beautiful Miss Betty Sike as Jubilee Queen. “Betty Sike, 17,” wrote the local paper, “has been chosen to wear the crown as the Sharpsville Diamond Jubilee Queen. She is the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Sike, Main St., Sharpsville. “The queen’s duties are to reign over the festivities during the celebration and the Queen’s ball to be held July 4 in the high school gymnasium. She will appear on a special float in the “Parade of Progress” Monday, July 4. The queen will receive a prize of $100 and her costume has been donated.” The election of Betty was hailed with unanimous enthusiasm by the Branch 171 membership who hold the Sike family in very high esteem. The late Mr. Sike, father of the queen, was founder of the Betty Sike — the Pride of Branch 171 Branch and an active officer to the end of his life. His family of more than 30, all of whom are members of the Verhovay, are highly active in the affairs of the branch, devoted fraternalists, splendid people. So is Betty, a favorite of all Sharpsville Verhovayans, the charming Diamond Jubilee Queen. Congratulations to Betty, her proud mother and the Sike family and best wishes for continued success to Sharpsville’s Diamond Jubilee Queen!
