JOHN BENCZE, Supreme President «■■«Illi* ..................................................................................— 'Hill IUHUB ilimi While the population of the United States has increased only 30% in the past 25 years, the number of persons owning life insurance has increased 90% and the total life insurance' owned has increased nearly 300%.—(Institute of Life Insurance.) Pick a tough job for yourself and .you will have little competition. All prospects will be easy prospects for you when 1 you cease looking for easy prospects.—(A. A. L. Who's Who.) The really great man is the man who makes every man feel great. Angler: “Say, you’ve been standing there watching me for two hours. Why don’t you try fishing yourself?” Spectator: “Me? I ain’t got the patience.’’ Success is by no means absolute. It is relative, a different thing in each individual case. It is not competition one with another; it is man’s competition with himself. Comparing oneself with other people is weakening. Success is not what you have but what you are.—(Arthur Fisher.) There are literally thousands of persons who, for want of a better trem, I’d like to call economic nudists. Were they to walk down the streets no better clothed than their economic situation covers them, they would be arrested. They are badly in need of the help of a competent insurance man.—(Newell C. Day.) Life insurance is economical because it does not require maintenance cost, repair, or taxes.— (The Benefit News.) WHAT PRICE INSURANCE—AN ARGUMENT FOR A PROSPECT It is a funny thing about life insurance—it has to be paid for, whether or not it is bought. If you buy the life insurance ycur family needs, then you pay for it out of current income. You spend a little less here and a little less there. You do a better job of budgeting. But if you don’t pay for the life insurance out of the money in ycur pocket today, then your family may have to pay for it someday. How? Out of the things they do without — the opportunities they do not enjoy—the schools they are unable to attend—the home they are forced to leave— the sense of security they do not possess — a mother’s attention which is not theirs because she must support them. Ask yourself this question, “Who pays the biggest price, I or my children?”—(The Go-Getter.) I have found that most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.—(Abraham Lincoln.) The more you use your brain, the more brain you will have to use. The wisest resolution is to do the best you can with what you have where you are.—(Life and Casualty Mirror.) The entire development of this country has depended cn the existence of the same qualities which characterized the early settlers. These were the qualities of those who hewed paths through trackless forests and over mountains, who bridged rivers and conquered barren stretches of sand. They were individualists. They faced hostile elements and hostile men with equanimity and fortitude. They had character enough both to respect authority and to resist its abuse.—GEORGE W. MAXEY. Every human mind is a great slumbering power until awakened by keen desire and by definite resolution to do.—EDGAR F. ROBERTS. Our business in life is not to get ahead of ethers, but to get ahead of ourselves—to break our own records, to outstrip our yesterdays by our today, to do our work with more force than ever before.—STEWART B. JOHNSON. A love affair may be said to have progressed beyond the preliminary stages when a man stops fighting for his girl and begins fighting with her. A devoted wife is always anxious to get home to her husband. She is afraid he may be enjoying her absence. A woman sued her husband for divorce, charging he sold the kitchen stove to get money with which to buy drinks. The man admitted the charge, but asked for leniency on the ground that his wife was such a poor housekeeper she didn’t miss the stove for two weeks. “Well, I do say,” exclaimed the sweet old lady, after tasting her first cocktail, “it tastes exactly like the medicine my husband has been taking for 40 years.” “Your wife seems to have a strange look on her face lately.” “Yeah, she’s tryin’ to resemble her Jätest photograph.” ■ Verhovay Journal BIRTHDAYS with a one line biography of people from ail over the world for each day of the year. (Be on the lookout for October’s list.) “I wish I knew where George was,” remarked the young wife. “I presume, my dear,” said her mother-in-law, “that you mean you wish you knew where he is.” “Oh, no, I don’t,” was the firm retort. “I know where he is. He’s in bed with a black eye and a headache. I want to know where he was.” “Do you know where I can get 25,000 cockroaches?” “No—and for Pete’s sake, why do you want them?” m “Well, our landlord is making us move, and our lease says we must leave the premises in exactly the same condition as we found them.”
