Of course, w: would have preferred a 100% cooperation on part of our branches, their officers and members. In reality, however, there is no such thing as 100% cooperation. Human efforts and the achievements resulting therefrom, are never perfect, least of all in the fields of social and fraternal endeavor. Observers of church activities and social movements find 30% cooperation to be a fair average while 40% is considered an exceptional achievement. In comparison, the 77% cooperation recorded during the Anniversary Contest, is a magnificent proof of the loyalty, and enthusiasm of our fellow-members. This observation is further substantiated by the fact that of 330 contestants 30% won the Grand Prize, and altogether 51% were awarded prizes. From these figures we draw great encouragement for pur hopes for the future of the Verhovay. As long as the spirit of cooperation prevails in such measure as was revealed during the Anniversary Membership Contest, the further advancement and development of the Association is assured. And it is this assurance that makes the Sixtieth Anniversary a happy occasion. With reverence toward the founders and builders of the Verhovay and with gratitude toward our co-workers and fellow-members, we shall look into the future knowing that we have the strength and ability to meet every new challenge during the years to come. Let us, therefore, preserve the high grade of cooperation that is the secret of all the successes ever attained by the Verhovay. There are no limits in what WE can make out of the Verhovay if we remain loyal, cooperating fraternalists. Anniversary greetings and thanks to all Contestants, Winners, Boosters and cooperating fellow-members alike! BOWLING SCORES BRANCH 525 — LOS ANGELES, CAL. William Dauda, and Eleanor Szabó, daughter of Laslo Szabó, organist of Shaker Heights Baptist Church, were united in marriage. The father of the groom, the Rev. William Dauda, pastor of Shaker Heights Hungarian Baptist Church, performed the double-ring ceremony and a moving address was delivered by the Rev. Dr. Charles Buday- Gruber, second pastor of that congregation. The opening prayer was offered by the Rev. George Balia, Akron, O. “Because” and “Oh, promise me” sung beautifully, with organaccompanyment, by soloist Miss Margaret Fulön, and a duett by Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, highlighted the ceremonies. A wedding-banquet was held before the services attended by Mr. and Mrs. Aladar Szegedy- Maszak, Ambassador of the Hungarian Republic to the United States, from Washington, D. C. The wedding guests were pleasantly surprised also by having Albert Steinmetz, writer of the Sunkist Southern California Echoes column, from Los Angeles, Cal., and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lenart, from the Home Office of the Verhovay, Pittsburgh, Pa., in their midst. A splendid reception followed the wedding ceremonies. All of the guests were happy to attend the wedding of this popular couple to whom they extended their best wishes for a happy life. This writer joins the good friends of the family in extending to them his heartiest congratulations. May your marriage be blessed with love, understanding and happiness, Elmer and Eleanor Dauda! THE POWER OF ENTHUSIASM “A man may have honesty, health, ability, initiative, knowledge of the business, tact, sin cerity, industry, and open mindedness, yet without enthusiasm he would not be a success,” someone once said. There is no question of the tremendous role enthusiasm plays in every department of life. It is not alone the spirit of successful business, it is the spirit of success itself. The success of any enterprise depends entirely on the punch and pep that is injected by those associated with the venture. Worthless stock schemes and every bunco game is founded and promoted solely on enthusiasm. If applied to legitimate business there is no limit to the success that would necessarily follow. It is absurd to think that you can light a fire in your prospect’s heart unless there is one burning in your own. You can’t expect the ether fellow to become more enthusiastic about the benefits of insurance for himself and family than you are enthusiastic about your own. —THE INTERSTATE.
