JOHN NAGY Member of Branch 25, of Mt. Hope, W. Va. He was killed in the Virgin Islands, in the Pacific, December 21, 1942. 6.) ERNEST LADA A member of Branch 36, of Detroit, Mich. He was killed in action in the Southwest Pacific, December 26, 1942. 7.) WILLIAM R. I É FORTY-ONE OF OUR BEST Some of them rest in the soil for which they gave their lives . . . others lie under the broken palms of a tropical island . . . and again others found their last resting place under the once peaceful sky of wartorn Europe or Africa . . . We will never see them again. Neither of us may ever see their graves. But they are not entirely lost to us. Their memory will remain with us forever, even as their youthful smile will linger with us for many years to come. Their fathers and mothers, their wives and sweethearts will remember them, and so will each and every member of the Verhovay fraternity. Their death is part of the great price to be paid for the birth of a better world. The fact of their sacrifice unites us ... it unites us in greater love for one another ... in pursuing the task that lies before us. . . in the growing appreciation of those many values for the preservation of which they have made the supreme sacrifice. And this unity among us will serve as a living monument that shall preserve their memory in our hearts forever. 21.) FRANK R.
