October 28. 1943 Verhovayak Lapja Page I m ow Thomas R. Kochis, S 2/2, is now at the Naval Air Tech. Training Center, Tenn. He finished his boots training at Great Lakes with highest honors as battalion leader and graduated as Naval Aerial Radio operator at Memphis. He is 19 years of age, member of Br. 130, East Chicago, Ind.; and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Kochis. His dad is an active member of Br. 130, while his paternal grandfather, Stephen B. Kochis (Kocsiscsak), formerly of Lorain, Ohio, now of San Bernardino, Calif., was a director of the VFIA for many years. His 'maternal grandfather, Gabriel Sguszi, is president of Br. 130. Before entering the service, Thomas was a student of the Wabash College; having graduated from the Washington H. S. in East Chicago. He will be very glad to hear from members who can address him at: 4834 Euclid Ave., East Chicago, Ind. By: Richard J. Phillips Word has just reached us that Michael F. Toth, who was inducted into the Army on June 11, 1943, has already been advanced in rank. He is now private, first class, and is stationed at Kessler Field, Mississippi. Pvt. Toth is only 19 years old and prior to his induction was working in the Ford Apprentice School, Dearborn, Michigan, specializing in electrical engineering. Pvt. Toth likes the army and is well-pleased with his surroundings, particularly when it gives him his long-awaited opportunity to follow his life interest — aviation. He was an enthusiastic model builder and won recognition for his authentic and skillful-built models. He is mechanicallyinclined and his officers are sending him to school to develop his latent abilities along this field. He is the brother of the President of Br. 356, who as well as the other members of his family are all enthusiastic Verhovay members. Incidentally, Pvt. Toth was formely a Duquesne resident, having moved to this city a few years ago. We hope the best for Pvt. Toth who will keep us informed as to his progress and advancement in rank, for which he is striving and hopes to receive very shortly. be reached at 8030 Burdeno Street, Detroit, Mich VICTORY J BUY UNITED STATES WAR BONDS AND STAMPS BIOGRAPHICAL QUESTIONNAIRE When a man is born, people ask: “How is the mother?” When he marries, they say: “What a beautiful bride!” When he passes away they ask: “How much did he leave her?” —Fountain Inn (S.
