With Paul Stansik as the only bowler who possesses a 170 average or better, the Yona and Buda team showed that team bowling and not necessarily individual stars make up a winning combination. The fact that the Molnár Funeral team has been hard hit by the draft, losing John Thomas and Eugene Vargo, making chances all the brighter for Yona and Buda to end up in second place. For one who did not know how he could possibly get together five bowlers to make up a team, I believe John Buda did a fine job of selecting the team he did. John Sonkoly fired the high series of the night as he shot 234, 204 and 203 for a 641 series to lead Yona and Buda to a three game triumph over the Hinky Dink five, who dropped into last place in the league standings. Gus Blanchi paced the Hinky Dink five with 510. Verhovay Br. 36 took two games from Molnár Grocery, as Lou Molnár had 232 in 570 to pace the league leaders. Rudy Szalay led the losers with 519. Himler Printing climbed to within one game of,sixth place, as they won three games from Yale Inn. Oscar Petoskey had a 224 finish in 545 to lead the Himler Printing five. John Chonka had 531 to pace the Yale Inn boys as they blew a k)ig lead in each game. Gabé’s Bar with Lloyd Kusak having 202 in 566, won two games from Molnár Funeral. The presence of John Thomas, who was home on a furlough, did not fire the slumping Molnár boys. Steve Vargo had 232 in 564 to lead the losers. The Verhovay Br. 36 boys are still seeking matches with the other branches of the Verhovay. Any team who is willing to accept their challenge, notify Paul Szegő, 8555 South St., Detroit, Michigan. It took a 287 by a chap on the opposite team and a total of 993, to take one point away from a total of four on 3/25/43. However, three points from tliat particular team was something that had ’em all going, and a handicap of only 89 points at that. Thursday, March 25th, ended the league’s bowling. The Sunday following we had our match game with Milwaukee and Thursday, April 1st, we bowled our sweepstakes. I would like to say more about the above bowling but that will have to wait for the next issue, as time does not permit me to go into detail just now. However, I am submitting the match game and league scores, together with the final standings of the league. Milwaukee Mary Sinitz144 149 123 416 S.Neuenfeldt108 139 123 370 M.
