After stopping at Warren and Broad Streets where we were befriended by one very jolly officer of the law, Callahan by name, we started out for Trenton’s famous restaurant to get our full of vitamins, calories and what have you. Getting our fill, we headed back for the Curtis Alleys to meet our opponents and, much to this gal’s ‘peevéments,” our victors. However, a rollicking good game was played by both teams, and Team 394 ‘B’ lost the match. It was a rather close game, but the last straw came when we lost the last game by a mere three points. Our rooters1 section—all three of us— were somewhat dis-spirited but came through with a good rousing cheer and a couple of phooeys (ahem!) every now and then. To see just what we did and accomplished, look for the scores in the sport section of this issue. Well, our motto is that old one that says if you don’t succeed once, try, try again. Watch out, all Verhovay teams, we’re out for the killing. Our boys looked very nice in their white shirts and blue lettering. I think we rooters will blossom out with shirts of our own. We gals tried to play a couple of games after the match, but whether it was the Jersey atmosphere or the alleys Margie Griglock and Irene were the only ones who were able to hit anything. So far as my score is concerned, the less said the better. After we tired of this, our kind Jersey friends took us to the Extension Tavern, which I was told has the longest bar in the state, and after ldoking at it we believe it. We all sat down and discussed ... ah .... shall I say “shop”? However, I must say Steve Vechy and Frank Molnár certainly can do some tricky dance steps, especially Molnar’s polka. Before we could say “Verhovay,” it seemed we had to start for home, so very reluctantly we got into our cars, with fond farewells, until this Saturday when the gang will come to our dance. It is needless to try to thank those fellows for the splendid time they showed us. We’ve changed our minds about Jersey and its inhabitants. Now we’re eagerly awaiting to see what this week’s game will be like when we again play Jersey. We hope to return their hospitality and, of course, see Teani ‘B’ win the match. Fraternally, “DINKY.”--------------O-------------BRANCH 89 DEFEATS CASINO II In a match played October 22, 1941 at the Club Alleys, Homestead, Pennsylvania, Branch 89, Homestead, Pennsylvania, defeated Casino II.
