They authorize the Home Office to sign the desired resolution. Considering the advanced stage of the time, Supreme President adjourns the meeting at 6 P. M. until the morning of the next day. daa. * * * MINUTES — CONTINUED Taken on September 18, 1941. The same ones are present. The Supreme President opens the meeting at 9 A. M. and orders the reading of the Minutes which are accepted and certified by the Board. 26. ) The Board is occupied with the complaint of Supreme President Darago, who has been performing the duties of the Supreme Treasurer, that the Supreme Auditor and Supreme Secretary did not issue to him the salary of the Supreme Treasurer, claiming that when the Board entrusted to him the duties of the Supreme Treasurer they did not take any action relative to the salary. The Supreme President announces his claim to the whole of the Supreme Treasurer’s salary by reason of the fact that during the time the office was entrusted to him he performed the work and assumed the responsibility, and for this reason he is entitled to same in every respect. After his announcement, he leaves the meeting and the conduct of same is assumed by Vice-President Joseph Szalay. After a detailed discussion, the Board, though they note with the greatest thanks and acknowledgement the performance of the work of the Treasury, to their great regret can not, however, grant the based claim, for they do not have the right, in accordance with the By-Laws, to issue two salaries to one person, even though that one person performs the work of two people or has same performed. In this question Directors Macker, Csömör, Ari, Brogley, Vizi, Lang and Szalanczy voted “no,” and Directors Dr. Prince, Kuhn and Dobos did not avail themselves of the right to vote. Undoubtedly, however, they see the necessity of compensating him for the work accomplished and the responsibility borne, with some financial remuneration in addition to their thanks and acknowledgement, and for this reason they accord him a honorarium of $100.00 per month, or a total of $500.00. The Board ratifies the action taken by the Supreme Auditor and the Supreme Secretary in this matter. The decision of the Board is conveyed to Supreme President Joseph Darago by Vice- President Szalay. After acknowledging same, he again resumes the conduct of the meeting. 27. ) The Board announces in a decision that neither a Supreme Officer nor any employee of the Home Office can claim any extra compensation or overtime even if compelled by Verhovay duty to perform extra work either within or without the scope of particular position. The right to allot eventual honorary compensation is retained for themselves by the Board. 28. ) The Board is occupied with the appeal of ex-District Manager Albert E. Karl, relative to his account, which however can not be granted by the Board.
