The Verhovays drew first blood in the 2nd inning when they placed runners on' 1st and 2nd, Logan and Timko being credited with ' singles. Then up came Fonnie Mullen who whistled a scorching liner between first and second and to all onlookers it was being chalked up as a double, but Swede Sanko, shortstop of the McLean’s made a thrilling stop of Mullen’s drive, and attempting to get the runner at third, threw wild with J Logan scoring. This ended the scoring for this particular inning. The Verhovays went on a scoring spree in the third and fourth innings, scoring 1 two runs in the third and •two runs in the fourth inning to put the game on I ice. No further scoring was seen during the remainder of the game. Paddy Logan, speedball merchant, pitched himself a three-hitter, striking out -12 batters. His pitching was truly one of the highlights of the game. Fitz, Verhovay left-fielder, made a breathtaking running catch of a hard hit ball in deep left field, robbing the batter of a sure hit... a home run. The Homestead Verhovays, members of the Homestead District Softball Leauge, are now y2 game out of 1st place with the Subway Rangers in 1st. However, it is very apparent that the Verhovays will take over the first position within one weeks time.
