Arms extended overhead holding Lithe-Line taut. Sit down Hello again! After toying with the idea of really seeing Pennsylvania from “stem to stern” for many moons, I finally got around to it recently ... and got the surprise of my life at .all the wilderness out in the northwestern portion of the state! From a little towrf called Renovo to another little town called Emporium I almost starved to death! Not even a gas station for miles on end. The view from the summit of the Bald Eagle Mountains was itself more than worth the trip! What with perfect visibility for seventy-five miles ... a soft breeze blowing .., and stuff and things ... I enjoyed it no end! There is a place near Kane where you will find the only Lobo wolves in captivity . .. Stopped to do a bit of shopping in Altoona ... some of the shops are very swell... ca'me mighty close to Pittsburgh but didn’t have time to drive right through ... Back into State College ... and Williamsport. Bought an adorable necklace of simulated quartz at a gift shop in Muncy ... the shop itself is very clever, having been previously a bank. The owner, Helen P. Metzger, showed me around ... what I liked was her method of converting the safety boxes in the vault into containers for her costume jewelry ... each labeled, Biown Bracelets, Jade Rings, etc. J find that the new swirling peplum will be one of the leading styles in frocks for the Fall ... even Bonwit Teller of Fifth Avenue is featuring it... Black taffeta evening gowns trimmed with black velvet is the last word for after dark wear... Black velvet gloves, elbow length are also in ... Just before the fall of Paris I received a gorgeous pair of white kid gloves ... Gant Prévot... guess I’ll have to have them dyed black! Perhaps the-most popular combination that I could find in most of the shops is black with dull gold trimming. Keep your eyes on those dull gold accessories, girls, they will be worn with natural brown and tan, too! on left side of legs and turn arms and body to the right. Get up on knees and sit down on right side, twisting body and arms to the left. For hip and waist. 5) Spread Eagle — Sit on floor, one leg extended td the side, the •other bent at knee. Holding Lithe- Line taut overhead, swing body from side to side. Change legs and repeat. For waistline. 6) Swan Dive — Sit on floor with legs apart. Extend arms in back of you, stretching the Lithe- Line. Extend one arm and then the other to the floor, alternating. For shoulders. Bright red corduroy is more then swell... hunter green is being used as its sister color... a few jade buttons help, too! Reversible raincoats are bright red on one side...tan on the other. The hats I have seen so far are too sweet for words ... my favor-, ite is the Robin Hood Stetson that dips jauntily over the right eye ... red with a long green quill ttat simply shoots ’way up! Then there is the hunter green variation of antelope skin ... this one has a brilliant red feather to offset the green! Pill boxes ... pancake shapes ... Fadre-shaped ... all are good this fall. Was at a perfectly delightful champagne party last Wednesday night! One of the most clever frocks I saw was of blue crepe ... military fashion .... a double row of buttons dqwn the front... trimmed with dull gold! Speaking of champagne, did you ever stop to think how funny a list of your likes and dislikes would sound? Mine would run something like this ... I love champagne, orchids and licorice sticks! I dislike caviar (although I always have some on hand for those fussy gues'ts who simply can not enjoy a cocktail party unless there are caviar canapes!)... don’t care for gardenias or caramels ... Love sunsets ... and imagine I’d feel the same about the sun rising, too, if I ever got up in time to see it! Love flying, horseback riding and swimming ... hate to drive a car. That makes me feel as though I’m out of my element... you know, more at home in the air„ and water ... Simply loathe time tables and road maps, because I can’t read the former and can’t fold the latter! But then, who can? Love my brother Jack’s “Dagwood” sandwiches ... he’s the one who helps me feed the left-over caviar to our neighbor’s cat... Hate novels with an unhappy ending ... they always leave me with a dark brown taste in my mouth. Don’t mind the same kind of ending in an historical book or biography... but when I read GADABOUTS
