One of the high lights of the meeting was the presentation by Mr. Albert Karl of Mr. Louis Veszi, the new District Organizer. A few of our new members started off right by appearing at the meeting. The new members present were: Mary Karnya, Helen Gajdos, Louis Krupansky and John Mantz. We hope they will continue to appear at the meetings, for we value their cooperation. Before our meeting was called to order, the officers, Mr. J. J. Horvath and Mr. Cal Karnya, had to use some persuasion to get several of the girls away from their interests, to begin the meeting. The bowling team is of importance. The boys at present are organizing their bowling team, but are somewhat held back till th* sports funds can be obtained After a bit of deliberation, the Branch agreed to donate $25.00 to the bowling team. Members, the boys promise you some thrilling excitement for your money. Mr. Otto Molnár, Chief Organizer, is gracing Cleveland with his pleasing personality for the next three months, from what we understand. Mr. Louis Veszi, new Organizer for the Cleveland district, appears to us as a go-getter. This is hoping that the new members he obtains will be directed to our Branch. We wish to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Kalman Kolozsvary, President of Branch 14, for his untiring efforts in helping Branch 366. Congratulations to the former Miss Mary Matyas, who was married on October 26th. CARD PARTY: The girls of Branch 366 are going to sponsor a big Benefit Card Party, Sunday, November 10th. The young ladies have a program to assure the success of this event, and to make the evening more varied, there ívül be free movies of our last picnic. Refreshments will be served, and to top it off, valuable table and door gifts will be given away. And of course the entertainment will be ■varied and interesting to all. So come one and all, near and far, to enjoy yourselves. The girls are putting their hearts and souls into this event. The girls on this committee are as follows: Elsie Kolozsvary, Louise Torda, Helen Gajdos, Mary Karnya, Gizella Merk. Goldie Zsednay, Frances Schwartz. The bowling team, of which there are twelve members, shall cooperate 100%. Fraternally, BILL TORDA, Publicity Director. Branch 366.--------------------O-------------------WELCOME TO NILES, OHIO Branch 477 A Harvest Dance will be sponsored by Branch 477, Niles, Ohio, on November 2nd, in the Sons of Italy Hall, on Mason Street. Dancing will be to the music of the Sikora-Medve Orchestra of Youngstown. The admission will be 35c. General chairman of the affair is John Pirigyi, assisted by Leslie Monos, John Sirokman and Mary Koval. Verhovay members and friends are invited to participate in the event with us. Fraternally, MARY KOVAL, Recording Secretary Branch 477.---------:o:--------BRANCH 439 Johnstown, Pennsylvania The Johnstown Junior Branch 439 met Sunday, October 5, 1940 to discuss the coming fifth anniversary event of Branch 439, to decide whether this celebration should be held as a dinner or as a dance. I shamefully regret to say that among seventy-eight members only ten were present at the meeting, and of these only three remained for the entire meeting. Perhaps it is immaterial whether 439 shall expand or collapse. Our dear friends the Molnár sisters don't seem to be with us any longer. * * * Branch 439 held its Birthday Dance as a Halloween Dance, on October 27th, at the Hungarian Catholic Church Hall, Sixth and Chestnut Street. The music was furnished by Duke Andrew's Orchestra. Mr. Stephen Balogh, our secretary-treasurer, bought a 22 Marland rifle from one of the members to practice for the Compulsory Military Training. Secretary-treasurer Balogh told me that the rifle will be used only to hunt those rabbits that get away from him while hunting, but I conjecture it will be used to hunt new members. SICK LIST: Mr. Steve Hojak lost a thumb while at work. Mis. Margaret Telekesy and Mrs. Joseph Marchik are both on the road to recovery, after long illness. The Hungarian Catholic Church Harvest Dancers, of whom half are members of 439, were asked to be present Friday, October 11th, at the Germanic Club Hall, by the officers of the same club. They danced for the members of the club, who were well pleased with the performance. MEMBERS, BE SURE TO ATTEND ALL THE MEETINGS. Fraternally, —THE REPORTER.
