Prohászka László: Equestrian Statues - Our Budapest (Budapest, 1997)

The Sports Rider on the sidewall of the stairway to the Palace of Exhibitions erected on the right sidewall of the stairway to the Palace of Exhibitions, from where it was removed in 1958 to the corner of Szende Pál utca and the Dunakorzó (the Danube Promenade, District V). Twenty years later in 1979, the Sports Rider was once again obliged to move house. It was now because of the construction work for the future Forum Hotel on the spot where once the Ritz Hotel had stood that the statue had to be removed. This time the Rider was al­lotted its new, now perhaps permanent, place in the park now bearing the name of Gyula Germanus, by the Buda end of Margaret Bridge. It is a pity that this fine piece is covered, for much of the year and on more than one side, by the foliage of the trees.
