11. ON THE STAGE For checking programmes and times refer to Finding out (1) Puppet Shows [Bábszínház] Budapest has two puppet theatres which are always popular with children, including foreign children. Ex­perience shows that language difficulty presents no major problem. The spectacle is an experience, even for adults. The puppet theatres are situated at 69 Andrássy út (“Vörösmarty u.” metro stop on the little underground) and at 10 Jókai tér (at the far end of the square, which is very near the “Octogon” junction of Andrássy út and the Great Boulevard). There is no difference between the types of performances at each theatre, although the latter tends to have more for younger children. Shows range from “international" fairy tales (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.) to Hungarian folk stories. One difference, however, is that while wheelchair access is possible at the Jókai tér theatre, it is virtually impossible at the other, there being sets of steps to negotiate. Both puppet theatres have buffets serving drinks and snacks
