8. Intor the Past - Museums
8. INTO THE PAST Museums Budapest has many museums. The following is not a comprehensive list, but it indicates which ones are likely to be of interest to children. The smaller museums are not usually crowded and are often looked after by friendly senior citizens who are more than willing and enthusiastic to welcome visitors. If you’re thinking of going to a museum, ask yourself what day it is! Many museums are closed on Mondays and most are closed one day in the week. Some of the larger museums run special children’s activities, particularly in the summer. Telephone numbers are given for enquiries. English-speaking guides can be booked in advance in many museums, even for small numbers of visitors. The cost is usually low by western standards. The museums situated in the former Royal Palace are covered separately — see Castle Hill (4) LARGE MÜSEÜMS Ethnographical Museum [Néprajzi Múzeum] A huge building standing in Kossuth tér (no. 12) facing
