Gál Éva: Margaret Island - Our Budapest (Budapest, 2000)

Ruins of the Franciscan church from the east and Faragó in 1938 to be used as the Lipótváros (Leopold Town) Casino Sports House. Within a few years, the mod­ern building was already the club house of the adminis­trative staff of the Futura company. It now houses the Margaret Island offices of the Municipal Garden Maintenance Company and a police-station. Unlike this, the club house to the south, built on the esplanade named after Alfréd Hajós for the employees of the Financial and Banking Centre in 1941 to plans by Jenő Heinrich, is still used as a sports centre. The build­ing represents a high standard of those built on Margaret Island between the two world wars. If we now walk back along the same pathway that we took leaving the main thoroughfare to make a detour towards the bank and have a look at the club houses built between the world wars, we’ll see a fine playground and a part of the park on our left, that is to the north of 39
