is similarly decorated by a statue of Saint Stephen. Situated in the same way above the main entrance from Kossuth square we can find full-length statues of two outstanding rulers of medieval Hungary, Mátyás Hunyadi and Louis the Great. The latter was made by Ede Mayer, a major portrait sculptor of the turn of the century. There are two additional sculptures of Louis the Great on the wall of Parliament. The limestone one decorating the fagade on the Danube side was made by Róbert Fleischl, while the great domed hall houses a painted zinc statue of the king by Béla Brestyánszky. In addition to the royal statue of the millennial monument and the building decorations on Vigadó and the Parliament, Louis the Great is also commem­orated in the form of a monument of more modest proportions. Built in the mid-1930s in modern style, a residential building at 47/a Lajos Street in Óbuda, District 111, has its fagade decorated by a circular limestone relief. Evoking the Gothic style, the relief has in the middle a representation of Louis the Great sitting on his throne, holding a long sceptre in the right hand and an orb in his left. Elaborated in the manner of a coin, the relief has the following Latin inscription running along its edge: LODOVICUS DEI Relief of King Louis in Óbuda 10
