Radó Dezső: Parks and Forests - Our Budapest (Budapest, 1992)

Fadrusz utca. The main feature of the park is the lake, which is not bottomless at all. The lake fills an old claypit with an average depth of only 4 m. Even its maximum depth is no more than 5.5 m. The area between the lake and the Hotel Flamenco is dotted with black poplars, Norway maples, box-elders as well as spiny oleaster, tree of heaven, and Judas tree. The aquatic vegetation consists of willows and reeds. Paper mulberry, Turkish hazel, and Japanese pagoda- tree decorate the east side of the park near Bartók Béla út. ln 1984, during the construction of the Hotel Flamenco, attractive support walls, picnic tables and abundantly planted flowerbeds were installed in the redesigned part of the park facing the hotel. The area of the Feneketlen Lake, with its shady avenues and rich vegetation, is one of the finest “green islands” of Buda. Sas (EAGLE) HILL AND OTHER SITES OF BOTANICAL INTEREST Before we recommend a couple of walks and hikes in the woods of Budapest, let us introduce the distinctively contoured Sas Hill, which looks bare from a distance.
