decorated with a gallery of little windows on the second floor’s facade. The main decorations of the Romantic building are the carved heads which remind us of the masks of Greek theatre. The cornice behind the heads which emphasizes their beauty is also very impressive. At the end of the century the electric tramway super­seded the horse tramway. In 1896 steel and concrete tram depots were built in place of the former horse tramway terminus. The tramway line started from here. Photos from this period reveal a vivid life at the station, with a good restaurant and a news stand. Since the construction of the underground the tram­way has also disappeared.
