Detail of the Abattoir today building, which was won by the Prussian architect Julius Hennicke. The Abattoir covers fourteen hectars. It is built in the so-called Imperial style, with large round-arched windows and a high water tower in the axis of the buildings. The water tower, with its castle-like squat mass and the low gallery running around under its roof is the most emphasized and most suggestive element of the Eclectic-style slaughter-house complex.
