This so-called “old roller” serves today as an office building, and cannot be visited. It is very touching to look at this little modest building. In the course of time it became cramped and increasingly outdated, but the directorship of the works spared the old roller, in which their forefathers laid the foundations of their successful enterprise. The history of this oval-shaped building dates from the late 18th century, when the first silk industry plant of the Habs­burg Empire was established here with the support of Emperor Joseph 11.
