Buza Péter: Bridges of the Danube - Our Budapest (Budapest, 1999)
The rebuilt bridges of Budapest generally mirror their originals ed for the construction were raised by the capital which resorted to an unprecedented measure when it imposed a surtax for the purpose. The four-year construction was completed by 1937. Following its explosion in 1945, the bridge was not rebuilt until seven years later, in 1952. The problem of the overly steep ramp at Boráros tér was also eliminated at that time. The bridge was renovated in 1979-80 and more recently in 1990.
