Matits Ferenc: Protestant Churches - Our Budapest (Budapest, 2003)

■ The main ßafade of the church An accentuated element on the western facade of the church, which has a groundplan in the shape of a Greek cross, is the tapering belfry, ending in a merlon and in its shape suggesting the contours of a medieval campanile. A few steps lead to the tympanum-topped portal opening in the belfry, and to the right of this are the entrance and windows of the congregation hall in the basement. The interior of the church is illuminated through the large vaulted treble windows turned towards the four points of the compass. Behind the pulpit and the Lord's table, also designed by Endre Szántay, in the southern section, on the field below the window is the inscription Christ is the Lord, in Hungarian and in Dutch. The plaque by the entrance of this 286-seat church pays homage to its sister parishes in the Netherlands, as well as the Csillaghegy worshippers and their Hungarian brethren elsewhere whose donations made it possible to raise the building. (The Dutch brethren made a combined contribution of no less than 22 thousand pengő.) 56
