set of three steps, the sarcophagus-shaped altar stands in a vaulted sanctuary covered by an independent roof. Upon the altar is set the altarpiece Doubting Thomai, painted by Dezső Raksányi (1879-1950). To the left of the Piszke-marble altar there is a marble baptismal font designed by János Schulek. The decoration of the 22-metre-by-i2 interior is dominated by Hungarian folk motifs, the orna­mental patterns on the wall were painted over with a plain light green coating. The congregation hall, which takes up most of the left-hand side wing, can be opened into the church interior. That was what determined the position of the pulpit, which was thus placed half-way down the nave on the left. Similarly to the red-marble baptismal font, the marble base of the wooden pulpit has an octagonal cross section. Carved with Hungarian motifs, the pulpit has no bal­dachin and is flush with the floor, which is meant to establish a more immediate connection with the congregation.
