Matits Ferenc: Protestant Churches - Our Budapest (Budapest, 2003)
■ Church interior with the altar placed in the loft above the entrance. A fire-bomb set the church ablaze in 1944 on New Years’ Eve, leaving nothing but smouldering walls and gaping windows; the entire interior furnishing, including the organ, was destroyed. During the reconstruction of the church initiated by Bishop Lajos Ordass, a new six-hundred-kilo wooden cross was made for the altar by master joiner József Domoky. The altar itself was newly reconstructed in 1989. The two large congregation halls in the basement are once again used in their original function by the Women's Association and the group of boy- scouts bearing the name of Martin Luther. The two-storey church house to the rear was built in a style similar to that of the church. 24
