understandably. And indeed, the imposing new church building, which stood in a prestigious residential area, had been opened within a year; its consecration was held on 20 October 1895. Between [885 and 1895, before it took possession of its own church in Szilágyi Dezső tér, the Calvinist congregation of the Castle District held its services first in the Dísz tér, then later in the Bécsi kapu tér church. The fayade of the three-part complex is covered with a plaster coat made in the shape of ashlars here and stripes there. The main entrance is accentuated by Corinthian semi-columns on either side. Above this rises a slender tower, whose cross reaches a height of 36 metres. On either side of the neo-Baroque contours of the tower, which features a clock facing the square, there was, until 1945, a balustrade with an urn on each of its four corners. During the reconstruction after the war, the building was not restored to its original condition. '5
