Chapel with stairs: the Calvary in Epreskert

spiral stairways in the splendid interior preserved in the Humanities Reading Room, while the stairs leading up to the gallery of the Sociology Reading Room are two, mod­ern spiral staircases were brought here, complete with stone-slab treads, from what used to be the library’s storage rooms. A key element of pedestrian traffic management within the huge library complex is the cylindrical casement of the communal stairs, upon which are stringed the split-level sections of the building. Credit for the restrained elegance of the staircase with its steps of a low rise height is due to its designer Csaba Jakab. With its central position this core staircase provides clear orientation to patrons while also giving them a sense of the bustling life of the library's daily life. Chapel with stairs: the Calvary in Epreskert Starting down Bajza utca from Andrássy út toward the Danube, one will soon catch a glimpse of the fine gardens belonging to the Epreskert (Strawberry Fields) training facilities of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in the area surrounded by the Bajza, Szondi, Munkácsy Mihály and Kmety György streets.
