stalactite vault a popular vault in Islamic architecture; a pendentive with components in a cell-like arrangement. The corbelling is made up of ornamental bricks forming wedge-shaped cells. Frequently used on cornices and capitals in Islamic art, it was brought back into fashion by the Jewish architecture of the 19th century.

torah the five Mosaic books forming the Biblical cornerstone of the Jewish religion. In the Jewish tradition it is used in the shape of parchment scrolls, travertine tuffaceous limestone deposited by calciferous subterranean springs used for millennia as a prime building material and face-work on account of its attractive tracery.
