Faurest, Kristin: Ten spaces - Our Budapest (Budapest, 2010)

Kós Károly tér

This book is meant as a gesture in tribute to the neighbourhood squares of Budapest. But as we've seen with each of our examples, the squares, their histories and their atmospheres are inextricably connected to the buildings that surround them. And in thinking of those buildings, let’s think of John Ruskin’s words, from The Seven Lamps oh Architecture-. Therefore, when we build, let us think that we build horever... For, indeed, the greatest glory oh a building is not in its stones, nor its gold. Its glory is in its Age, and in that deep sense oh voicehuLness, oh stem watching, oh mysterious sympathy, nay, even oh approval or condemnation, which we heel in walls that have long been washed by the passing waves oh humanity. 69
