The Parish Church of Magna Dominica Hungarorum, Regnum Marianum, 1931

had been begun by Frigyes Schulek, but completed to plans by Foerk. Like the Szeged church, this neo-Romanesque, brick and ashlar-covered Church of St. Michael was also consecrated in 1930. Its foundation stone had been laid by the architect himself in 1929. The masters building the church were István Paulheim and Ferenc Weninger. (Weninger had designed the church raised on the still "murderous" quicksand of Mátyásföld in 1904.) The church’s murals were painted by Jenő Dénes between 1955 and 1958; the tondos in the nave show the four Latin and four Greek church fathers. The stained-glass windows are the work of Imre Zsellér, and the double-flanged rose windows of the organ loft feature the historical coats-of-arms of Hungary. A glass window was presented to the church by the Foerk family in 1930. Its inscription reads: Blessed Margaret, Patron Saint of Succour to Hungary, intercede for your country. The Parish Church of Magna Domina Hungarorum, Regnum Marianum, 1931 „... you iconoclaótó / build / Build up the temple in your hearti, too. ” (Gyula Kunszery, Iconoclaim) ■ Longitudinal section of the church. 1926 45
