Parish Church of the Queen of the Rosary, 1915

The construction logbook of the Dominican church at the corner of the former Szent Domokos—today Cházár András—utca and Thököly út opens with an entry made on 19 February 1912, headed With God. Designed by Antal Hofhau- ser (1857-1923), the National (central) Sanctuary of the Queen of the Rosary was consecrated by Cardinal János Csernoch on 3 October 1915. It was also he who, in 1922, donated to the church the relic of the (as then) Blessed Margaret of the House of Árpád. The dynamic asymmetry created by the 78 metre tall belfry on the corner of the building is counterpoised by the shorter stair turret placed on the opposite side of the main front.
