Bauer Mihály rajztanár és vállalkozó 1899-1900- ban parcelláztatta a tulajdonában levő vasúton túli területet, az úgynevezett Deákvárt. Ezen a homokos, löszös, agyagos területen építettek tanulók, deákok homokvárakat, innen az elnevezés. Az első lakóépületet, a Bagolyvárat Bauer Mihály építtette fel. Mellette épült fel a Schulek Frigyes által tervezett Sulyok-villa. A húszas évek közepén már száznál több ház volt Deákváron, 1930-ban pedig már 1325-én éltek 218 épületben. 1927-ben készült el az állami iskola, 1930-ban az óvoda és benne egy kápolna, 1940-ben a Fábián Gáspár által tervezett és Takács István freskóival díszített Jézus Szíve-templom.

Mihály Bauer art teacher and entrepreneur had his land, the so called Deákvár, located across the railways, divided into parcels. The name Deákvár (Castle of Pupils) originates from students first building sand castles on this sandy loessial, clay soils area. The very first residential building, the Bagolyvár, had been build by Mihály Bauer. Next to it, the Sulyok-villa, was designed by Frigyes Schulek. By the mid 1920s, over hundred houses stood in Deákvár and by 1930, already 1,325 people were living here in 218 buildings. The public school was completed in 1927, the kindergarten, including a chapel, was finished in 1930, and the Heart of Jesus Church designed by Gáspár Fábián and decorated by the frescoes of István Takács, was finished in 1940.
