THE PLACE WHERE THE PLAIN, THE MOUNTAINS AND THE DANUBE MEET 27 Cultivated lands on Naszály Hill THE ORCHARDS OF NASZÁLY ATTHE FOOTHILL The areas covered with loess at the foot of the hill, which belong to the former Hegyközség, are suitable for wine- and fruit-growing. The land that is not cultivated any more is soon taken over by the wildlife of the natural oak forests and grass of the southern hillside. Rare orchids appear on the uncultivated parts, old trees and houses become inhabited by small mammals. We should mention that all three kinds of dormice that inhabit Hungary - the Edible Dormouse, the Hazel Dormouse and the Forest Dormouse - can be found here. The owners of weekend-houses and the wildlife can co-habit in a relatively balanced way if they know and accept each other's rules. An old tradition revived: animal husbandry THE EDUCATIONAL PATH OF THE GYADA FIELD In the valley of the Lósi Stream, we can discover forestry and the environment in hayfields formed by traditional patterns of agriculture. The 5 km long educational path introducing the forests, the silviculture (forestry) and the wildlife of the area can be visited all year round. It was established by the Municipality of Vác and the Vác Forestry of Ipoly Forest Pic.
