EXCURSIONS AROUND THE TOWN 275 Károlyi Castle FÓt The richly decorated entrance of the church Roman Catholic church In the 18th century Főt was owned by the Galántai Fekete family; in 1808 it was purchased by the Károlyi family. Until the middle of the 20th century the Károlyis played an important role in the life of the settlement. Sights: Classicist style Károlyi Castle with Romantic elements (18th century). In the 1840s a storey was added by Miklós Ybl's design. Today it is used by the István Károlyi Children's Centre with botanical rareties (like honey locust) in the park. • Romantic Roman Catholic church, parish house and former convent (1825-1855) designed by Fáy wine-press house Miklós Ybl, decorated with arabesque motifs, ornate porch, gilded coffered ceiling, ornate pulpit, Károlyi family's vault in the crypt • memorial house of Kálmán Német (1903-1979) wood sculptor • wine-press house of András Fáy, writer and politician of the Reform Era and the poet Mihály Vörösmarty's hut (1837) on Somlyó Füll • doubly protected conservation area of Somlyó Hill, part of Danube-lpoly National Park, with a 3.5 km long model path for educational purposes
