The settlement had been populated since ancient times, but it got deserted during the Turkish era. Later fami­lies from Nógrád coun­ty and Upper Hungary settled here. Landown­ers often changed. The best-known of them was Alfréd Floch-Re­­ichersberg who cre­ated a model farm on his property. After the Ottoman era the owners and leasehold­ers of Göd made a landed property centre and built a manor house, a jetty and a brewery here. Miklós Nemeskéri-Kiss developed livestock-raising as well as milk-processing and distilling industry. On his own property he parcelled out a great many lots, where holidaymakers'villas appeared as early as the late 1800s. The world-famous racehorse, Kincsem, who proved to be unbeatable in all of her 54 races, prepared for the races in Göd between 1876-1880.
