The settlement had been populated since ancient times, but it got deserted during the Turkish era. Later families from Nógrád county and Upper Hungary settled here. Landowners often changed. The best-known of them was Alfréd Floch-Reichersberg who created a model farm on his property. After the Ottoman era the owners and leaseholders of Göd made a landed property centre and built a manor house, a jetty and a brewery here. Miklós Nemeskéri-Kiss developed livestock-raising as well as milk-processing and distilling industry. On his own property he parcelled out a great many lots, where holidaymakers'villas appeared as early as the late 1800s. The world-famous racehorse, Kincsem, who proved to be unbeatable in all of her 54 races, prepared for the races in Göd between 1876-1880.
