EXCURSIONS AROUND THE TOWN 261 DANUBE BEND Váci rév The cycle path along the Danube, a section of the would-be route connecting Budapest and Vienna runs across Vác. It offers a great opportunity to get around the riverbank settlements. Unfortunately there are only a few places where you can rent a bike, but if you bring your own you can carry it by train. It is a delightful experience to see the Danube Bend, to admire the towns and the villages while travelling on the river. However, there are not too many scheduled ships in service in the Vác area. You can take a pleasure-boat to Visegrád In 2008 the Danube bridge between Újpest and Budakalász was opened You can take the ferry at Szob, between Visegrád-Nagymaros and Tahitótfalu-Vác respectively. The ferry can be reached by train, car or bus; in Nagymaros-Visegrád and Tahitótfalu-Vác the jetty is downtown within walking distance. On the left bank there is a good railway connection on the Budapest-Vác-Szob line, while on the other side of the river regular bus services are provided. Cycle path in the Danube Bend or Esztergom, but travelling takes quite some time. The only bridges over the Danube are in Budapest and at Esztergom. The bridge at Esztergom leads to Slovak territory, and the traveller can get back to Hungary across a smaller bridge over the river Ipoly, crossing the border at IpolyszaIka-Letkés.
