252 CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS, PROGRAMMES Cultural institutions, programmes EXHIBITION PLACES Exhibition places are run hy several public collections, institutions and private undertakings. Most of them, at least the permanent ones, are downtown. The tourist information office provides information about the programmes and the opening hours of any current temporary exhibitions. The opening hours of the institutions vary with the seasons, so the tourists arriving with the aim of visiting a particular place are recommended to check information in advance. MEMENTO MORI - crypt finds from the Dominican Church of Vác (19 Március 15 Square, cellar) The 18th century crypt of the church in the Main Square was discovered by the parish priest in the mid-1990s. More than 300 citizens ofVác had been buried here over a period of nearly 100 years. The microclimate of the cellar below the tower was similar to that of some caves, the bodies buried The entrance of the Memento Mori Exhibition there dried up, and did not decay but became mummified in a natural way. Despite the passing centuries their clothes, funeral accessories and coffins have survived in good condition. The findings, this form and practice of burial, clothing and sacred objects are displayed at an exhibition at the Tragor Ignác Museum. DIOCESAN COLLECTION OF VÁC (Váci Egyházmegyei Gyűjtemény; 4 Március 15 Square) This is the museum of the bishopric, exhibiting objects from its treasury and collections. The restored interior of the Baroque Grand Provost's Palace itself is an exceptional spectacle. On the ground floor there are long-term thematic exhibitions, while upstairs interior designs can be seen in the rooms with ornately painted walls. VAC!
