SIGHTSEEING Karolina School today and more valuable and were expropriated for the purposes of the seminary. In 1926 it was enlarged with wings and an extra storey by the designs of Kálmán Hübschl Váczy. Following the nationaliza­tion it worked as a secondary grammar school then, after the change of regime, it was intended to revert to being a seminary again. Today it houses the Vil­mos Apor Catholic College. The western side of the school is the starting point of Múzeum Street, the first house of which is The building of the former seminary, today Apor Vilmos Catholic College St Joseph's statue and the Virgin Mary's statue in Konstantin Square The assembly hall of the former seminary, present college the Vác City Archives. The public collection was established in the former building of the museum in 2004. The coloured stat­ues of St Joseph and the Virgin Mary, made of hollow cast iron, are on opposite sides of the square facing each other. They were made at the beginning of the 20th cen­tury. The bronze statue and bas-relief of the founder of the Hungarian State, King St István (Stephen), was made by Géza Hiesz in 1939. It is outside the portal of the garden of the Bishop's Palace. This is the place where the local celebrations of 20 August are held. The present bishop's palace was built by Kristóf Migazzi between 1768 and 1775 by the plans of the Austrian architect Gergely Pörge's drawing of Múzeum Street The building of the town archives
