Nowadays the riverside area is being transformed, new houses appear following the old system of streets. The Sports Stadium of the town is near the Grove. New water sports facilities are planned to be built nearby. The street called Budapest Main Road is the axis of the Lower Town leading from the south towards the town centre. The fagade of the old town houses with their decorative details still remind us of the high quality craftsmanship employed. The former "honvéd hussar” barracks house the Lajos Katona Town Library. During the War of Independence of 1849 there was a boarding school for boys in this building. The Austrian commander, Colonel Christian Götz, who had been injured in a Battle on 11 April, was brought and died here. The building might have been Bishop Migazzi's palace between 1767 and 1772, today it is a dwelling house in Budapest Main Road The housing estate in Földváry Square The building of the town library
