126 RESETTLEMENT AND THE AGE OF THE GREAT CONSTRUCTIONS - THE 18TH CENTURY The seal of the Piarist Monastery of Vác, 1739 of the bishopric were built in j the small square opposite the | bishop's palace. At the back of the cathedral some prebendal houses, a parish building and the minor-deputy-provost's palace were constructed. The J training of priests, which had ceased during the Ottoman occupation, had to be re­started and the seminary needed a permanent home as well. PERFECIT. , ANNOMDCC LXXXlt SCHOLIS PMS DONAVIT Bishop Migazzi's memorial plaque on the wall of the Piarist Grammar School building of the new seminary was begun by Kristóf Migazzi in 1777 in Konstantin Square. The Piarist Monastery was situated on the opposite side of the square round the corner; the building of the gram­mar school was right next to it. Szentháromság ("Holy Trinity") Square was built halfway between the Main Square and Konstantin Square, on a line between the secular and the eccle­siastic centre that was also the principal axis of the former medieval single-street settlement. The Piarist Church and Monastery were located here facing the HolyTrinity statue, which had been erected in mem­ory of the plague epidemic in 1740. Another char­acteristic building of the square was the bishopric beer house, part of which now belongs to the lido; the rest is a restaurant. Besides some single-storey houses, mainly workshops, the postmaster's house also stood here. In the first half of the 20th century though the police station was built in its place. The castle was in ruins, it had been used for storage by the treasury for some time.
