Die Zeremo­nie wurde von Frankreichs Lein­wandliebling Vir- ginie Ledoyen mo­deriert, die für die Begegnung mit Regielegende Wo­ody Allen eine schwarz-weiße Chanel-Robe trug. „Hollywood En­ding“ ist Woody Aliens persönli­ches Dankeschön an die filmver­rückten Franzo­sen, mit dem er Gelächter und Szenenapplaus erntete: „Gott sei gedankt, dass die Franzosen existieren“, war von Allen auf der Leinwand zu hören. Sein Humor begeisterte auch die Journalisten vor Ort. Auf die Fra­ge von Harald Schmidts Reporte­rin Nathalie Licard, was er davon halte, dass die Franzosen Frösche und Schnecken verspeisen, ant­wortete er trocken: „Im Prinzip gilt dafür dasselbe wie mit der Li­ebe: wer's mag. Wenn jemand ab und an richtig Lust hat auf ‘ne or­dentliche Schnecke - warum nicht? Ich selbst könnte weder Frosch noch Schnecke runterkri­egen. Der Tribut an große Filmmusikkomponisten wie Ennio Morricone, Michael Nyman oder Francis Lai wird he­ute Abend um neun Uhr in einem großen öffentlichen Konzert gip­feln, das die berühmten Musiker am früheren Casino „Palm Be­ach“ geben werden.
