It is well to know, that: "Here must we live, and here must we die.“ So rapid, we might say like a phenomenon, has been that conquest, also, which Francis David with his colleagues, fought in the empire of faith. In the court of our Kolozsvár church we guard with gratitude that round stone, from which, returning from the dispute of Gyula-Fejérvár in 1566, he held forth that famous sermon so that the people took him upon their shoulders and carried him into the Cathedral and the entire Kolozsvár accepted the Unitarian religion. From that day the Cathedral has belonged to the Unitarians (150 years) and has been the lightning torch of our faith. And soon Unitarianism spread over the mountains and valleys of Transylvania, so that in the year 1568, thus nearly in two years, our church was founded, at its head was Francis David, our first Unitarian Bishop., And even the Prince of Transyl­vania, John Sigismund and many other noble and most ancient families accepted the Unitarian religion. And not only in Transylvania, but in the various parts of Hungary proper also Unitarianism has found its way, i. e. in the great plain of Hungary, and in the upper part of Hungary too. As the shepherds’ fires gleam in the darkness of the night in different places, so glittered the light of the Unitarian faith every where in our country.
